Giveaway! Wet n Wild "Steal the Look"

Ever see a super awesome makeup look on Pinterest or Instagram that you just HAD to try for yourself? But when you open the tutorial or products list it's full of crazy expensive products that would make you a Sephora VIB Rouge in one trip?

Well for me, someone on a budget, I need to know how to create these looks on the cheap. And now I can with the new Wet n Wild Steal Any Look App. This makeup generator app allows you to take or upload an image and "steal" the look, but swiping the lip, lid, and crease colours and getting customized Wet n Wild product options based on your skin tone. You can save your looks, and there is even a shopping section that shows you where to purchase the products.

Pretty cool right? Um...yeah it is! I'm not ashamed to say that I've spent entire afternoons stealing looks and making a huge Wet n Wild wish list. I also wouldn't be ashamed to buy everything on my list because WnW is so bloody cheap!

So here is my stolen look! I found it on Pinterest, but I also follow Vanillia_2607 on Instagram. This girl is seriously talented with makeup, and I was obsessed with this look as soon as I saw it. As you can see above, the app gave me the exact products that I would need to re-create the look. I didn't have the Color Icon Palette in Tunnel Vision, so I used the matte black from the Poster Child palette instead. Let's see how I did!

 I'm quite happy with how this look turned out! It's a lot more makeup than I normally wear. A few things of note about the products used:

1. The Mega Liquid Liner in Black is amazing! At first I thought the applicator would be difficult to work with but it was the easiest application of liquid liner ever. Will be repurchasing based off this application alone.
2. Purty Persimmon is the most beautiful bright orange-red lipstick. I will be rocking this all year round.
3. I've finally found a mascara from WnW that I like. It has a dryer formula and applies effortlessly and lasts all day without flaking or smudging.

Review: Wet n Wild Mega Plump Mascara

Plump up the volume! Instantly plumps for up to 3x the volume. 

I am always on the lookout for a great mascara at a great price. My lashes are naturally full and long, but I love layering on the mascara to get that VA VA Voom look. I recently tested out the Wet n Wild Mega Plump Mascara in hopes of very black, voluminized lashes. With only a price tag of $3.99, if this mascara ended up being amazing I’d be laughing all the way to the bank with my savings. 

Review: Wet n Wild MegaShield SPF 15 Lip Color in Lolly Popstar

"Luxurious colour delivers hours of sheer-to-moderate coverage that glides on buttery-soft for a smooth, moist-looking pout. Lips are pampered with Vitamin E, Amino Acids, Avocado Oil, and Rice Bran Oil that moisturize and condition for silky, soft comfort. Although I like a good deal on makeup, I haven't really tried much from the affordable, yet high quality, Wet n Wild brand. I have tried their Matte Lipsticks, and I love them, so I thought I would give the MegaShield line a try as well. Lolly Popstar is a medium pink with an intense frost finish.

The first thing I noticed about this lipstick was how smooth and buttery it applied. The swatch above is seriously one swipe, and a light swipe at that. It is super pigmented and opaque in that one swipe. I also really like how moisturizing this lip product is. A lot of times I find that lipstick dries out my lips, but not with this one. 

Although it swatches without a frost, on the lips it is almost unbearable. It looks so bad, and dated, I cant stand how it looks. Apply a layer of similar coloured or clear gloss, and it helps diminish the frost. Another thing I don't like about this product is the packaging. The product sticks up past the tube making it super easy to gouge the product with the lid when putting it on and off.

Overall, the quality of this product is great for the price tag. I won't be buying anymore of the frost finish lipsticks, but I would like to try some non frosts from this line.

NOTD: New Year's Kiss

I LOVE GLITTER! I like it on my nails as an accent nail, as an overlay, or as a complete glitter-bomb manicure. So when I first laid my eyes on New Year's Eve from the Wet n Wild Fergie Center Stage Collection I knew it was for me!

New Year's Eve is a clear base filled with dense silver glitter, and small holographic and turquoise bar glitter. The glitter goes on fairly sparse, so for me it only really works as an overlay. I tried to see how many coats it would take to get an opaque nail, but I stopped after 4.  As you can see, in the above picture, when the light hits the holo bars they flash an assortment of beautiful colours.

I am not normally a fan of the bar glitter look, but I am loving this polish. The holo glitter just adds something special and makes it really eye-catching. The only downside to this polish is that it is hard to fish the bar glitter out of the bottle. And, because there is more base than glitter, it's hard to keep the glitter on the brush because it just wants to run off.

Overall, this polish impressed me, and made me want to not only check out more Wet n Wild glitter polishes, but also some more from the Fergie Collection.

Dupe Alert: Deborah Lippman Ruby Red Slippers

A few days ago Jen from From Head to Toe did a blog post about Deborah Lippman's Ruby Red Slippers ($19), and the polish looked oddly familiar to me. I am a huge fan of black polishes with any sort of coloured glitter throughout, so I knew I had a polish like this somewhere in my collection. I ended up finding the polish in question, and I have to say that it is quite the close dupe.

And what is this dupe you might ask? Well it is Once Upon A Time from the 2012 Fantasy Makers Collection by Wet n Wild. Once Upon A Time ($1.99) has the same semi-sheer black jelly base, with multi-sized red glitter as Ruby Red Slippers. In Jen's post she stated that she used 4 layers of polish to create an opaque nail, I was at four coats and was finding my polish not opaque enough. So I started over, first putting down a layer of Essence Back to Black ($1.99), and then two coats of the Fantasy Makers.

The Fantasy Makers polish dries somewhat matte, so I added a top coat for extra shine. With a topcoat you can really see the dimension to the glitter better. My nails look like they are covered in rubies. They are very eye-catching and I have received quite a few compliments on them. I am totally in love with the look, and I'm glad I get to enjoy it at the fraction of the cost of the DL.

Once Upon A Time is not available in this years Halloween Fantasy Makers Collection. So if you cannot get your hands on this polish, I researched a few other DL dupes:
