Revlon's New ColorStay Gel Envy Longwear Nail Enamel is not actually a gel polish. It offers the shine and longevity of a gel manicure without the extra costs and time required for a gel manicure. I have to say that I was intrigued about these polishes when I first heard of them. A polish that will last more than a week and keep its shine would allow me to get away with being lazy and painting my nails less.
I don't believe I used these polishes as intended, so I'm not sure how accurate this review is going to be. Although these polishes have the base coat built in I still used one to make sure I got no staining. I used two coats of nail polish and then my normal top coat. I'm believe the effect and longevity of the polish would have been more accurate had I used the Diamond Top Coat. However, I was very happy with the results.
Hot Hand applied almost opaque. The second coat provided complete coverage and dried to an even, smooth and glossy finish. For glossiness you don't really need a topcoat, but I used one to help with length of wear. Hot Hand is a classic Barbie Pink creme polish. It makes a great finger or toenail polish.
I got a full week of wear with no chipping or tip wear. The shine lasted the whole week as well. I'm sure I could have gotten more time out of the manicure, but my nails were growing out, and I was ready for a new colour.
Overall, this polish apples like a dream and lasts longer than any other Revlon polish I've worn. I get the gel look without the UV curing, crazy costs, or soak off removal. I really think Revlon has got a winner with this line.
